BULLETIN CONNECTION
Next weekend we celebrate Christmas, the festival of our Savior's birth. Today's readings prepare us for the coming of Christ, as one born in time, a man like us in all things but sin.
We are so familiar with the story of the annunciation, that we may miss one of the key proclamations that is contained in the Gospel passage. The angel says in response to Mary's question about how all this will come about, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you."
We proclaim this reality when we say in the Creed: "by the power of the Holy Spirit he (Christ) was born of the Virgin Mary."
That same Holy Spirit that brings forth Christ in the flesh in Mary, also brings forth Christ in us through our baptism. Christ is born in our hearts as well.
