RETIREMENT FOR THE RELIGIOUS - Retired religious need your support. By 2019, it is projected that retired religious will outnumber wage-earning religious by nearly four to one. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps ensure that elderly Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests receive the care they so richly deserve, now and in the future. Please give generously. |
FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS….. This Third Sunday of Advent our readings speak of the coming Messiah who will bring justice and transformation to the world. John the Baptist proclaimed that he was not worthy to untie the sandal strap of the one who was coming. The humility of John who could claim the praise and respect of great crowds of people and yet said that he was not worthy to perform such a menial task for the coming one, shows the greatness of Jesus and how anyone who recognizes Jesus as the Messiah of God should feel compared to him. Humbleness is not something that is highly praised in our culture for it rubs against our own willfulness. But this is the attitude of heart that is essential to make straight the way of the Lord in our hearts. Advent confessions in addition to the usual weekend confession times in our tri-parishes are as follows: St. Hedwig: Wednesday Dec. 21, 6:30 -7:30 PM and Thursday Dec. 22, 9:00 - 9:45 AM before morning Mass. St. Anthony: Tuesday Dec. 20, 6:00 - 7:30 PM following Perpetual Help Devotions. Holy Cross: Thursday, Dec. 15, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, following 6:45 AM Masses Dec. 20-23, Wednesday Dec. 21, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and Saturday, Dec. 24 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. The St. Anthony Christmas Bazaar is this Sunday from 8:30-1:00 PM. Please come and enjoy this joyful opportunity to prepare for Christmas. Father Glen Jenson, Pastor |
