“COINS FOR CRIBS” is our annual Advent outreach project at Holy Cross. As we prepare to celebrate the Christ’s birth at Christmas, our parish will collect coins during Advent that will be used to purchase baby cribs. The coins collected will be given to “Cradle of Hope” - a non-profit organization that works with mothers and infants in crisis. All coins received in the weekly collection plate will be given to the project. Bring extra coins to Church. If you prefer to give dollars or a check, put your gift in an envelope marked “Cradle of Hope.” Thank you! This past week we collected $82.00. |
FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS….. In our readings this Second Sunday of Advent we are urged to make straight the way of the Lord in our hearts. Advent is a season of preparation to celebrate Christmas as Christians. With the many other preparations we make for holiday celebrations at this time, may our Lady help us to prepare to celebrate Christmas as faith-filled Christians with prayer, quiet time, and confession to make sure that the way is clear and the path straight for the Lord to enter under our roofs through the doorway of our hearts. When Christ comes in glory at the end of time, or when we pass from this world, may we be ready to run out to meet him. My father’s quiet passing last weekend reminds me that we know not the day or the hour. Let us live each day so as to be ready to greet the Lord, whenever he comes to us. This Sunday, December 4, is our Northeast Christmas musical celebration at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Come and enter into the spirit of Christmas with the beautiful sounds of the season. Proceeds benefit our Northeast Catholic School Pope John Paul II. This is also the weekend for Christmas Bazaars at Holy Cross and St. Hedwig’s. Come and find a wonderful gift for someone dear to you. Father Glen Jenson, Pastor |
