Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

This Sunday we honor the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome, the Pope’s cathedral. We think of St. Peters in Rome as the most important church in the world, but St. John Lateran is the Pope’s cathedral as the bishop of Rome and is also the symbol of his authority in the Church worldwide. To see one of the great basilica churches in Rome, like St. John Lateran or St. Peters, even just a picture of it, reminds a person of the whole church throughout the world. Each year we honor the dedication of the Pope’s cathedral as a reminder of our worldwide unity as Catholics, each in our own diocese united under our own bishop, and of all the bishops with their flocks united together under our Holy Father the Pope, the bishop of Rome, the heart of the Church. Long live our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.

This Sunday is the Memorial Mass for deceased residents of Catholic Eldercare from the last six months. This will be taking place at our regular Sunday mass for the first time in over four years as it used to be held at our 11:30 AM mass until that was cancelled. Now it will be a part of our 9:00 AM mass twice a year. It is a lovely liturgy and very touching.

Father Glen Jenson

FOOD FOR THE NEEDY  - Help us remember those who are in need of food.  You can bring food donations when you come to Church or to the Rectory during the week.  The food will be used for Thanksgiving Baskets.  Please make sure to check the expiration date on the food and do not bring open boxes or bags.  Cash donations will be used for turkeys, bread, etc.

THANK YOU to Debra Jurek and Carrie Boeser for organizing the wonderful “All Saints Party” for children held at Holy Cross last weekend.  Each year the number of participants increases and everyone had a good time.  The “Parade of Saints” and games were great!
