POPE JOHN PAUL II SCHOOL NEWS

 

NERO DAY: Basketball games at Pope John Paul II School on Saturday, January 24 - girls 9:00 AM and boys at 1:15 PM.

 

PANCAKE BREAKFAST at St. Clement’s Church, 911-24th Avenue N.E. Sunday, January 25, 8:00 AM to Noon.  Cost: $5.00 adults and $3.00 children.

 

OPEN HOUSE/Kindergarten Night - Thursday, January 29, 6:00 to 7:30 PM.  Register for the 2009-10 school year.

 

GENERATION DAY - Friday, January 30th.  Families come join your student for lunch and visit classrooms.

 

SPAGHETTI DINNER & Raffles - Saturday, February 7, 4:30 to 7:00 PM in Kolbe Hall.

2009 MASS INTENTIONS - There are openings for daily and some Sunday Masses.  To make a request for a Mass call the Parish Office weekdays at 612-789-7238 or submit your request in writing and drop it in the Sunday collection.  Please limit your request to three per family.  Suggested donation is $7.00 per Mass.

SAUERKRAUT SUPPER - The Annual Sauerkraut Supper sponsored by the Parish Activities Committee will be on Tuesday, February 24th from 4:00-7:00 PM in the school auditorium.  Music by John Filipczak from 4:00-8:00 PM in Kolbe Center. 

SAUERKRAUT SUPPER - Help is needed in the dining room, kitchen and with the downstairs refreshments at the Sauerkraut Supper.  Men are needed to help with large kettles.  Call the Parish Office weekdays at 612-789-7238.

MCCL MARCH FOR LIFE - On Thursday, January 22 join thousands of Minnesotans at the State Capitol in St. Paul at 12:00 noon for the MCCL March for Life.  The March commemorates the deaths of more than 50 million unborn babies killed by abortion since the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions legalized abortion on demand for the entire nine months of pregnancy.  Your presence will help show elected officials and the public the depth of support for pro-life legislation protecting women and unborn babies.  For more information visit www.mccl.org

PANCAKE & FRENCH TOAST BREAKFAST - St. Philip’s Catholic Family Organization invites everyone to the Super Pancake & French Toast Breakfast on Sunday, January 25th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  Meal includes sausage, orange juice, coffee or milk.  Adults $5.00, Children $2.00 (ages 6-12), children under 5 FREE.  St. Philip’s is located at 26th and Bryant Avenue North.

DAY OF RECOLLECTION FOR CAREGIVERS - Treat yourself to a quiet spiritual day of renewal on Saturday, February 14, 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100-93rd Avenue North in Brooklyn Park.  “Caregiver” means anyone who lives, works or regularly visits persons with serious illness or disabilities.  This person could be your spouse, dependent children, other family members, nursing home residents, etc.  This special event will include the celebration of Mass, prayer, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Cost is $10 and lunch will be provided.  For information or to register (by Feb. 4) call Deacon Sean or Joan Curtan at 651-291-4543.
