One of our goals for 2011 is 125 new parishioners in celebration of our “125th Anniversary.” We have a rich history and look forward to many more prayer-filled and wonderful years in the future. To register or to have questions answered, please contact the parish office at 612-789-7238. |
CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT - Thank you for your contributions to the Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development! Your generosity has laid the foundation for important systemic changes in low-income communities all over the United States. Through CCHD we manifest Catholic social teaching and carry out Jesus’ mission to “bring glad tidings to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” (Lk4:18). |
FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS….. This Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent and the beginning of the Church’s liturgical year. It is a time of new beginning and of renewal. In the midst of the many changes and of all the upset and disturbance this has caused the household of faith in our local churches, we need to keep our eyes sharply focused on Jesus as the one true light for our way ahead. While things are still under discussion for possible alterations of the proposed changes for our local parishes, the best way to maintain peace of heart is to focus very directly on Jesus in our prayer and to seek to draw closer to him in the midst of all of this. With God, good can always appear even when least expected by us. Faith, hope and trust are what we really need right now. The season of Advent is an excellent time to renew this in our prayer life. Come Lord Jesus in our midst, and through this time of testing, may we all be blessed! I pray that everyone has had a blessed Thanksgiving Day and weekend. May our homes and families be blessed with ever deeper love and peace during these holiday times of gathering together. Father Glen Jenson, Pastor |
‘COINS FOR CRIBS” is an annual Advent outreach project at Holy Cross. As we prepare to celebrate the Christ’s birth at Christmas, our parish will again collect coins during Advent that will be used to purchase baby cribs. The money collected will be given to “Cradle of Hope” - a non profit organization that works with mothers and infants in crisis. All coins received in the weekly collection plate will be given to the project. Bring extra coins to Church. If you prefer to give dollars or a check, put your gift in an envelope marked “Cradle of Hope.” Thank you! |
