November 27 at St. Anthony of Padua December 4 at All Saints December 11 at Holy Cross December 18 at St. Hedwig Help prepare yourself to welcome Christ into your heart more deeply by participating in this prayer of the Church. |
FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS….. This is the 1st Sunday of Advent, the beginning of the Church’s new year, and the beginning of the use of the new translation of the Roman Missal which we use to say mass. Advent is a time when we prepare ourselves for the second coming of the Lord Jesus in all his glory by recalling his first coming at Bethlehem in great humility. It is fitting that we begin to use the new prayer texts for the mass this Sunday as the many changes, small and great, will require us to focus on what we are saying as we worship our God in the liturgy. This will provide an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the mass and to enter into it with greater reverence and awe. May our Lady prayerfully guide us into the reverent worship of her son Jesus Christ in these Advent days. Advent Vespers are held each Sunday of this Holy Season at churches around Northeast. This Sunday, St. Anthony’s will host it at 3:00 PM with a light reception to follow. Come and enjoy this quiet praise of our Lord as a part of your Advent Season devotions. Next Sunday, the Christmas in Northeast concert will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes at 1:30PM. Choirs from Northeast parishes, our school, and professional talent will light up the afternoon with the warm strains of lovely traditional Christmas music. Come and let the sounds of the season lift your spirit. Tickets for this event are $10.00, or preferred seating $25.00, and are available in advance or at the door. Proceeds benefit out Northeast Catholic School Pope John Paul II. See you there. Father Glen Jenson, Pastor |
