Text Box: BULLETIN CONNECTION

In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus embarks on a journey to Jerusalem where he will complete his mission and usher in an era of the Holy Spirit. He accomplishes this through his death on the cross. His response to the criminal in today’s Gospel - “Today you will be with me in Paradise” - is the assurance that the Spirit is being given even as Jesus hands over his spirit in death.

It is a different kind of king that we celebrate today, and a kingdom unlike any other. There are no armies, no regal splendor, no lords and ladies with great estates, and no great power exercised over others. In the kingdom of God we are free to respond to God’s invitation or not.

The scene on Calvary is a stark reminder to us that the choice is always there. Jesus hung on a cross between two criminals, one who reviled him and another who asked for mercy. On the way to the kingdom what do you want to do?

Please remember Holy Cross Parish

in your Will.

DEVOTIONS - First Saturday Devotions will be here at Holy Cross this Saturday, December 1 at 7:45 AM with praying of the first three decades of the Rosary and Mass at 8:00 AM.  After Mass our devotions will continue with praying of the final two decades of the Rosary, prayer and meditation.  All are welcome.

MY THANK YOU TO everyone for the beautiful 80th Anniversary celebration last Sunday at the 10:00 Mass.  Archbishop Nienstedt said he felt very welcomed and everyone was most kind to him.  My thanks to all who came to the Mass and reception.  Also, I am grateful to all who helped in any way.  It was a wonderful and memorable day in our parish.  -  Father David
