Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

This Sunday is Christ the King Sunday, the end of the Church’s year. If we believe that Jesus is truly risen from the dead, then we have good reason to call him our king, for only someone who has come back from the dead can promise life after death with love beyond all telling awaiting us. For this great promise to be fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ, we must fulfill our commitment to follow him in faith and love. As he states in this Gospel, if we have not extended love in the form of real assistance to others, we cannot expect that for ourselves from God. Faith must be coupled with good works, for us to be saved in the sight of God.

From a thankful heart it is much easier to be generous and loving toward others. As we also approach Thanksgiving this week, may we truly give thanks on that holiday, not merely feast. As we stop to give thanks for our many blessings, may we make the connection in our hearts and extend the generosity that God has given to this land, and in turn give from our gifts of time, talent and money, to others. Those who do so will find an open door to the heart of Jesus, our true king. And may everyone have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving holiday!

Next Sunday, November 30th will be the first of the Northeast Advent Vespers Services. St. Anthony’s will be hosting it at 3:00 PM with a social to follow. Come and experience the Liturgy of the Hours that is prayed in monasteries and feel the quiet peace which is the true spirit of the Season of Advent.

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT - Of the 37 million people considered to be living below the poverty line, 45% work full time but still do not make enough money to feed their families, keep roofs over their heads, and pay for health care.  The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) supports community-based projects - founded and managed by the poor themselves - that work toward building a better and more just community where poverty does not exist.  You can make a difference.  Please donate prayerfully and generously in today’s CCHD collection.
