OFFERTORY COLLECTION - Nov. 13, 2011

Sunday Collection - $6,706.00

Thank you!

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT - Today we take up a collection that helps fight poverty at its roots.  For 40 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) had provided funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States.  The collection has helped secure funding for low-income day care programs that emphasize education, and affordable housing in low-income neighborhoods.  It has contributed to efforts to implement laws that enforce fair wages.  Fight poverty in America.  Defend human dignity.  Give to the CCHD collection.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION - The Eucharist is the source of our lives, we owe JESUS love, gratitude, and atonement.

Visit the Adoration Chapel with your love, and petitions.  Pray for your needs.

Open hours: Monday 9:00 AM; 1:00 PM; Tuesday 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM;  Wednesday 9:00 AM.

“COINS FOR CRIBS” is an annual Advent outreach project at Holy Cross.  As we prepare to celebrate the Christ’s birth at Christmas, our parish will again collect coins during Advent that will be used to purchase baby cribs.  The coins collected will be given to “Cradle of Hope” - a non profit organization that works with mothers and infants in crisis.  All coins received in the weekly collection plate will be given to the project.  Bring extra coins to Church.  If you prefer to give dollars or a check, put your gift in an envelope marked “Cradle of Hope.”  Thank you!

THANK YOU - A sincere thank you to Father Glen, Sister Benita, Sister Donna, the luncheon ladies and anyone who had a part of the beautiful services for Ted.  ~  The grateful family of Ted Wratkowski.

BULLETIN DEADLINE - Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the deadline for the November 27th bulletin is Monday, November 21st.  The office at Holy Cross will be closed November 24-28.

FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS…..

This Sunday is Christ the King Sunday and the end of the Church’s liturgical year.  On this Sunday we honor Jesus Christ as the true Lord of all creation and our one true means to enter eternal life in heaven.  In his divinity Jesus Christ is all glorious, but in his humanity he is our shepherd who cares for us with a simple and perfect love.  As we honor his kingship this weekend, may we recall that heaven is our true goal in life, when we are dying, nothing of this world matters much anymore.  We need Jesus to be our good shepherd to help us through the deceptions of this life to enter the glorious courts of heaven with all the heavenly hosts of saints and angels.  May our Lady, Queen of Saints, help us to acquire this understanding of the realities of our life.

Thanksgiving is this week so be sure to check the bulletin for the time for Mass if you are staying home over this holiday.  Mass on Thanksgiving morning is quite wonderful. It helps to put the meaning behind the turkey dinner on Thanksgiving Day into our hearts.  I pray that everyone will have a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving Day.  May God bless all our homes and families over this holiday weekend.

Next Sunday will commence the Season of Advent and the churches’ new year.  At that time we will introduce the new liturgical translations in the spoken parts of the Mass.  It should be quite an exciting way to enter the new liturgical year.  I look forward to it.
