FOOD FOR THE NEEDY - Help us remember those who are hungry and in need of food.  You can bring your food donations when you come to Church or to the Rectory during the week.  The food will be used for Thanksgiving Baskets.  Please make sure to check the expiration date on the food and do not bring open boxes or bags.  Cash donations will also be accepted and used for turkeys, bread, etc.

CATHOLIC TUTOR CORPS is seeking volunteer tutors.  Will you join us?  Do you have an hour or two each week to share with a student?  Catholic Tutor Corps, a volunteer organization, believes that education is a powerful tool for the common good by which economically and socially marginalized children can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully as citizens in their world.  To that end, we place tutors in Catholic K-8 schools in urban areas of the Twin Cities.  We are currently seeking math and reading volunteer tutors to meet one on one with students in our urban K-8 Catholic schools.  For more information or to volunteer, please contact Laura Hoss 651-261-5429 or lhoss@catholictutorcorps.com or visit our website: catholictutorcorps.com.

A NORTHEAST CHRISTMAS - You are invited to a benefit concert for Pope John Paul II Catholic School on Sunday, December 4th at 1:30 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  The concert is to celebrate familiar and traditional music of the multicultural Northeast faith community and will include performances by both choirs as well as soloists.  Tickets are available from $10 to $25.  For information please contact the Development Office at 612-789-8851 or events@popejohnpaulschool2ne.org.

POLISH WIGILIA - The Polanie Club of Minneapolis and St. Paul wishes to share Poland’s most beloved holiday celebration by hosting a traditional Christmas Eve dinner, Polish Wigilia, on Sunday, December 4, at Jax Café, 1928 University N.E.  Social at 5:00 PM, Dinner at 6:00 PM followed by Dolina and Słoneczniki dancers and kolendy.  Cost is $35 per person.  For more information call Ewa at 952-447-1985, Martha 763-546-5686 or Marta 651-638-9577.  Reservation deadline is November 28th.

TURKEY & HAM RAFFLE - The St. Boniface Council will sponsor a Turkey and Ham Raffle on Tuesday, Nov 22, 2011 at 7:30 PM, St. Boniface Parish Hall, 7th Avenue and Second St. N.E.  Admission is $2.00.  Adults only.

ENGLISH ALTAR & ROSARY GUILD MEETING - The English Altar & Rosary Guild will meet on Monday, November 14 at 7:00 PM in Kolbe Center.  Refreshments will be provided by Roses 102 and 105.

LIGHT WEIGH - The N.E. Community Light Weigh Group is hosting an orientation at Pope John Paul II School.  Joining Light Weigh allowed a grandmother to lose 56 pounds and her doctor took her off asthma medications.  This was the result of only using The Light Weigh Program  Her doctor was thrilled with the way she was able to turn her health around.  Prevention Magazine chose Light Weigh because it met their criteria for a safe and healthy based diet program.  There are no weigh-ins.  The Light Weigh Study DVD series will have orientation on Monday, Nov. 28th at 7:00 PM in the school basement.
