Text Box: BULLETIN CONNECTION

The Shema is considered the most important text in Judaism. “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!” expresses both the unity of God and exclusive fidelity to God. It is a command to the people to be faithful to God.

The verses from Deuteronomy are quoted by Jesus in today’s Gospel when he responds to the question which is the greatest commandment. He adds to it a second commandment which come from Leviticus 19:18: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Love of God and love of neighbor are not just nice words to engrave on a plaque or hang on a wall. (Although it’s interesting that you don’t hear of many Christians trying to get these two commandments posted in local courthouses.)

These commandments are to be engraved on our hearts and lived in our lives!

Please remember Holy Cross Parish in your Will.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR a couple of “extra special” people to minister to our little ones on Sunday during the 10:00 a.m. Mass.  Prayerfully consider if you are the one to bring stories of Jesus to parish children.  The Nursery is for infants and Sunday School is for children ages 2 1/2 to 6.  Contact Father David at 612-789-7238.

HOLY CROSS ROSARY GUILD STYLE SHOW & MISSION BENEFIT is Saturday, November 11 in Kolbe Hall.  Coldwater Creek Fashions & Pork Roast Lunch.  Tickets are $15.00 and will be available at the doors of the church today and by calling the Rectory (weekdays) 612-789-7238.  NO tickets will be sold at the door the day of the luncheon.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Loving JESUS through the Blessed Virgin Mary: She is the gate through which we enter HIS Sacred Heart.  The Blessed Sacrament is the Sacred Heart of Jesus living and loving in our midst.  Visit the Adoration Chapel. JESUS is really there awaiting your visits.  “I have loved you with an everlasting love, and constant is my affection for you.”  (Jer. 31:3)

Open Hour: Tuesday 3:00 p.m.  Please see the insert in today’s bulletin concerning the Adoration Chapel.  For information, call 612-605-2258 or 612-781-4806.

THANK YOU TO BETTY GLINIANY for her dedicated service to Holy Cross Parish as Chairperson for the Funeral Luncheon Committee.  May God bless you Betty for the many years and many lunches served!

HELP US REMEMBER those who are hungry and in need of food.  Bring food donations when you come to Church or to the Rectory during the week.  The food will be used for Thanksgiving baskets.  Make sure to check the expiration date on the food and do not bring open boxes or bags.  Checks will also be accepted and used for turkeys, bread, etc.
