Pope John Paul II Catholic School is starting a community cookbook that they will sell as a fundraiser to benefit the children of the school.  The cookbook will contain recipes for a wide variety of foods celebrating the diversity of the community.  We invite you to submit recipes.  We will welcome food recipes ranging from holiday and baked goods to soups, salads and appetizers.  We hope to have this book ready as soon as possible.  Deadline for recipes is January 15th.  Questions about this project please feel free to call 612-789-8851 or contact us via email at events@popejohn paul2ne.org.

SUPPORT GROUP - Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota, in collaboration with Catholic Eldercare, offers a Support Group for family members with loved ones suffering from memory loss Wednesday, January 11; 2:00 to 3:00 PM at St. Hedwig’s Church, 129-29th Avenue N.E.  Terri Brustad, RN will be the facilitator.  The group meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month.  All are welcome, no cost.  For more information call 612-362-2463.

ANNUAL SINGLE PARENT MORNING RETREAT - Single parents are welcome to join the Archdiocese Office of Marriage, Family and Life for the annual Single Parent Morning Retreat, Saturday, February 4th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Maternity of the Blessed Virgin, 1414 Dale Street North, St. Paul.  This morning of reflection is meant to provide Christian support and renewal for single parents through presentation, fellowship and meaningful discussion.  Cost is $10/family.  Free childcare will be provided.  Any questions call the Marriage, Family and Life office at 651-291-4489.

DAY OF RECOLLECTION FOR CAREGIVERS - The Archdiocesan Outreach to persons with disabilities invites you to a Day of Recollection for Caregivers on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Church of the Annunciation, 509-54th St. W., Minneapolis.  Caregiver means anyone who lives, works or regularly visits persons with serious illnesses or disabilities.  Treat yourself to a quiet spiritual day of renewal.  Cost is $15 - lunch will be provided.   For more information, or to register, call Deacon Sean or Joan Curtan at 651-291-4543 or email curtans@archspm.org.  Registration deadline is February 10, 2012.  Please register your name, address and phone number either by email or the number above.

MASS FOR LIFE - January 22, 2012 will mark the 39th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s tragic decision to legalize abortion.  This year the Office of Marriage Family and Life will be celebrating a Mass for Life instead of an Ecumenical Prayer Service as the date falls on a Sunday.  Archbishop Nienstedt will be the celebrant for this special Noon Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul.  The MCCL Rally at the state capitol will follow the Mass.  Contact the Marriage Family and Life office at 651-291-4506 with questions.
