EUCHARISTIC ADORATION - Think of the sacrifice that the shepherds and the three Wise Men made in their long journey to adore the Christ Child.

We have the Adoration Chapel.  Let us give an hour a week to visit Jesus in the Chapel.  It is so easy for us to make a trip to adore JESUS compared to what the Wise Men and shepherds sacrificed in their long journey.  Open hours: Monday 9:00 AM & 1:00 PM; Tuesday 9:00 AM & 2:00 PM; Wednesday 9:00 AM & 7:00 PM.

For information call: 763-784-1317 or 612-781-4806.

OPLATEK - The Polish Committee is having an “Oplatek” lunch in Kolbe Hall after the 11:30 AM Mass TODAY, January 8.  The cost is $8 (to be paid at the door).  Children and students are free, if accompanying their parents.  There will be caroling during the event.

THANK YOU - The family of Richard (Dick) Lipa sincerely thank Father Glen, Sister Donna, the Altar Boys, organist, soloist, funeral luncheon committee and our parish community for their prayers and the kindness extended to our family.

BAPTISM CLASSES - Baptism class is required for parents and Godparents before the desired date for Baptism.  If you are planning to attend a class, you need to call the Holy Cross Parish office at 612-789-7238 to register.  Baptism class is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM in the conference room at St. Hedwig’s River Village, 29th & Randolph St. N.E.  The next class is Tuesday, January 10.

FATHER GLEN’S THOUGHTS…..

This Sunday is the Feast of the Epiphany and the end of the Christmas season.  The three pagan magi who brought gifts to the newborn Jesus symbolize the first of the non-Jewish people to come to Jesus.  They therefore represent us who are of gentile origin who have come to Jesus through faith and baptism as Christians.  The magi brought gifts for Jesus of gold, frankincense and myrrh.  The giving of gifts is the origin of gift giving in the celebration of the birth of our savior.  Orthodox Christians still give their gifts on Epiphany when the magi gave their gifts to the newborn Jesus.  Christians of the Catholic tradition give our gifts on Christmas, the day of his birth rather than when the magi came on Epiphany.  Regardless of when we give our gifts to honor the newborn king, they represent love for Jesus and our desire to share that love with our family and friends.  May we give the gift of deeper faith and service to Jesus throughout this new year and of commitment to love and care for each other as well.  May the joy of the Christmas season live on in this new year of 2012 through faith and loving service.

May of Lady and St. Joseph pray for us in this new year that our homes and families will be holy families and filled with peace and genuine care all year long.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor
