Text Box: MESSAGE FROM
FATHER JENSON

We seek to invite the power of God into our lives to uplift us in the midst of our many cares and worries. He is our shepherd and he does care. We need to call out to him insistently as did the blind Bartimeus in our Gospel this Sunday. That he cares for us we see in our readings this Sunday and many times in other places in the scriptures. Our insistent prayers, like the crying of a hungry baby who will not stop until it is fed, will bring down for us God’s grace in answer to our prayers.

There is so much need of God’s help today, for our country in recession, for peace and the safety of our troops, for a desperately needed increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life among our young, a renewal of appreciation for the dignity of marriage and family life, an increase in respect for human life at all stages, and always for those who are struggling with serious illnesses. Come to church with a desire to storm heaven on behalf of these needs and those known to you alone. Never stop imploring and exhorting God to hear and answer our needs.

Perhaps part of the troubles of our times is that we often fail to be insistent in our calling upon God to hear and answer our needs. Half hearted or only intermittent requests will not change the world and cure its ills but serious prayer just might. Pray each day, come to church each Sunday, and never give up.

The Keys to the Future night to assist the children of our area in our Catholic School was a delight. I secured some Christmas gifts through savvy bidding for silent auction items, and met some wonderful people who care about youth and their future from beyond our parish area. Be sure to watch for this event next fall. You won’t want to miss it.

Father Glen Jenson, Pastor
