“HAPPENINGS” BOOKS - Holy Cross Parish is selling “Happenings” books for $30.00 each.  The books include coupons for food, car washes, entertainment, etc. that are good through Sept. 2008.  Proceeds to the “Church Painting Fund.”  Books can be purchased at the Parish Office or by calling Dennis at 612-788-4209. 

ALL SAINTS PARTY - Mark your calendar now to attend the Holy Cross All Saints Party on Saturday, October 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in Kolbe Hall.  Please sign up for this free event at all entrances of the church.  Events include: children’s “Parade of Saints”, faith formation, potluck dinner, games, crafts and much more.  Each family is asked to bring one large potluck item and one bag of candy (no hard candy).  New this year - we are asking each child to bring one non-perishable food item that will be used to fill food baskets for the needy.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!  The All Saints Party is in need of volunteers for set up (10-noon), assistance during the party and take down.  If you have questions or can help contact Deb at DebraJurek@yahoo.com.

BIBLE STUDY - Last chance to register for Adventures in Matthew: The King and His Kingdom.  Holy Cross will offer this video series in a two-year time frame on the second and fourth weeks of the month, from November through May.  Classes for 2007-2008 will be held in the church library on Sunday evenings from 7-9 PM and Tuesday mornings from 9-11 AM.  The cost for course materials is $30 and materials will be delivered to you at the first class.  Call the church office to register for this class.  Registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 15.

DID YOU EVER NEED a carpenter, have questions on insurance or burial plans?  Members of the Minnesota Catholic Credit Union would like to introduce themselves to you on Saturday, October 20th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM in Kolbe Hall.  Please stop down before or after the 4:30 PM Mass on the 20th and meet Catholics wishing to share what they do with you.

RUMMAGE SALE - St. Cyril’s Church Basement - handicap accessible 13th Ave. and 2nd St. N.E., Mpls.  Wednesday, Oct. 17th from 4-7 PM; Thursday, Oct. 18 from 9 AM to 7 PM and Friday, Oct. 19 from 9 AM to Noon.  Friday is $2.00 Bag Day.  Sponsored by the St. Cyril’s Ladies Guild.

ST. FRANCIS GUILD SOCIAL - You are invited to join the St. Francis Guild for a fun afternoon of bingo, raffles, prizes, fun and friendship next Sunday, October 21st from 3-5 PM in Kolbe Center.  The St. Francis Guild is an organization of men and women that benefits the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania, Ohio.  Everyone is welcome.

JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT - Holy Cross Parish Activities is sponsoring a trip to Chanhassen Dinner Theater to see Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Wednesday, January 30th, 2008.  Call Joan at 612-379-4488 for more information.

THE PAPAL DAY LUNCH - The Polish Committee at the Holy Cross Church invites you for a special lunch to celebrate the 7th Papal Day.  It will be served TODAY October 14 after 10:00 and 11:30 AM Masses in Kolbe Hall.  The cost is $8.00 adults, $4.00 for children.  All profits and donations will be devoted to JPII commemorative fund “Work of the New Millennium” supporting the development of Christian culture and studies but most importantly improving the educational opportunities for young people from small towns and villages in Poland through funding scholarships enabling them to obtain high-level education.

EDUCATIONAL TASK FORCE - Due to a decrease in the number of families participating, the Holy Cross Educational Task Force has disbanded.  We thank them for the many years of fund raisers and activities in the parish.
