“HAPPENINGS” BOOKS - Holy Cross Parish is selling “Happenings” books for $30.00 each.  The books include coupons for food, car washes, entertainment, etc. that are good through Sept. 2008.  Proceeds to the “Church Painting Fund.”  Books can be purchased at the Parish Office or by calling Dennis at 612-788-4209. 

EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL GERMAN DAY - Church of St. Boniface, 629 - 2nd St. N.E., TODAY, Oct. 7. Polka Mass at 10:00 AM.  Authentic German Dinner from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM.  Adults $10, Children 12 and under $4.  Take-outs are available.

ATTENTION BOYS - If you are interested in serving the Lord as an Altar Server and are in the 3rd grade or older, please consider the privilege of representing your family so close to the Lord.  To have questions answered, contact Sister Benita evenings at 612-789-9168.

PLEASE KEEP SAVING ALUMINUM CANS - The money raised from recycling aluminum goes toward the “Church Painting.”  Bags of aluminum cans (beer and pop only) can be put in containers by the doors of church or by the garages behind the rectory.

TIMELESS CHILDREN’S CLASSIC - Join Dorothy, Toto, the Wicked Witch, Munchkins and all the other characters from Oz when the St. John the Baptist School in New Brighton Drama Club presents this timeless children’s classic.  Performances in the School gym are at 7:00 PM Friday, October 12 and 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 13.  Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door.  For information call the school office at 651-633-1522.  School location is 845-2nd Ave N.W., New Brighton.

ALL SAINTS PARTY - Mark your calendar now to attend the Holy Cross All Saints Party on Saturday, October 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in Kolbe Hall.  Please sign up for this free event at all entrances of the church.  Events include: children’s “Parade of Saints”, faith formation, potluck dinner, games, crafts and much more.  Each family is asked to bring one large potluck item and one bag of candy (no hard candy).  New this year - we are asking each child to bring one non-perishable food item that will be used to fill food baskets for the needy.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?  Do you know anyone who is interested in becoming Catholic?  Invite them to attend RCIA & Adult Confirmation/Inquiry classes!  Classes will be held each Monday night beginning October 29th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the Conference Room at River Village, 2919 Randolph Street N.E.  For more information call Michael or Margery Powers at 612-781-6140 or email powersm1@archspm.org.  Classes are for adults who have never been baptized, who have been baptized and not yet confirmed, or anyone who might be interested in learning more about the Catholic faith.

FALL FESTIVAL WRAP-UP MEETING - There will be a Fall Festival Wrap-Up Meeting on Tuesday, October 9th at 6:30 PM in the Pioneer Room.  Come to the meeting and share the highlights and future needs of planning the Festival.

WINONA FLOOD RELIEF - Can you assist the victims of the Winona Floods with a donation?  This donation will be used to assist in long-term recovery work, including meeting those needs that remain once other funding sources have been depleted.  Much of the work will involve rebuilding of homes and small businesses, and will provide smaller more personal needs such as prescription drugs, grocery bills, etc.  Donation checks may be made payable and mailed to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and marked “Winona Flood Relief” c/o Accounting Services, 226 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN 55102.
